Leader Prep (Before the Session)

Main Idea

The gospel is multifaceted. Different cultures resonate with different dimensions — guilt/innocence, shame/honor, fear/power — but all are true in Christ. Learning to see the gospel through these lenses helps us share it more effectively across cultures.

Leader Script (Intros & Transitions)

Opening: “Welcome to Week 4. The gospel is the same everywhere, but how people hear it is shaped by culture. Let’s ask the Spirit to open our eyes to see the fullness of the gospel.”

Transition to Video 4.3: “As you watch, notice how the gospel addresses guilt, shame, and fear — and think about which one resonates most with your own experience.”

Transition to UPG Prayer: “This week we’re praying for the Manjaco of Guinea-Bissau. Their worldview is shaped by ancestor spirits — let’s pray the gospel breaks through in power and honor.”

Closing Prompt: “Our step this week is the habit of going. Where is God calling you to cross the street, or maybe even the globe, to share His gospel?”

Time Breakdown (60–75 min)

Video & Reflection: 15 min

Discussion: 20 min

Scripture Study: 15 min

UPG Prayer: 10 min

Application & “I WILL” statements: 10–15 min

Group Dynamics Tips

When participants default to one lens (usually guilt/innocence): Affirm it, then ask: “How might shame or fear play a role in your own life or in the cultures around you?”

Encourage story-sharing: Ask, “Have you seen the gospel expressed differently in another culture or community?”
